Wednesday 12/09/12

Wednesday, Day off, even during my day off I was trying to do work to try and develop my character further since I did not really have much on Monday plus I needed to get more designs done.

I started at 10am till around 6pm with 1 break for 30 minutes at about 4pm.

The amount of work looks little and to the lecturers eyes it probably is little but even still I will not allow them to say to me that I do not put forth enough effort.

Now I will put in 1 picture at a time and explain what I was thinking at the time when I drew it.

Image 1:

This is the first page of the drawings I did, I tried to change the things Simon tried to teach on Tuesday to a way that would suit me better. So I tried doing a body as squares then try and draw the different parts of the body within them squares and eventually end up with something that looked like a human body, As you can guess from the picture, that idea failed.

Image 2:

After the idea that failed I then looked at the worksheet from Tuesday and thought "OK, Maybe what I am finding difficult is the amount of detail within the lines (the heads measurement method for human bodies) for different parts of the body so I don't really know where to start, so instead I will look at a specific part of the body and see how many lines that fits in and then just try to draw it like that"
This idea did have an effect for me, As you can see from the picture I was able to draw a leg design for my character using this and in better detail than the drawings I use to be able to do.

Image 3:

I stuck with the idea that gave me results and I developed on it whilst also trying to do more designs at the same time. This time I did the first designed leg but with both legs and designed a new leg for my character.

Image 4:

I tried some... more stereotypical type "robotic" legs, Metal and square.. but I soon decided I would rather something to my tastes and I'm someone who doesn't like to be categorised into any stereotypes so I decided I wouldn't use these types of legs or arms for that reason.

Image 5:

Even though I didn't like these legs I decided to do a bigger drawing of them legs since they were an option of legs I could use.

Image 6:

This is where I really started putting in more of myself, Since I have a hobby of drawing all sorts of random stuff when I do drawings at home I decided to give myself a few restrictions on what I didn't want to use and from there I then let my mind wonder and do its own thing and I ended up with this design, Away from the stereotypes or more into the grounds of my preference.

Image 7:

Now it was time to go to arms, I didn't just decide to do the arm, I decided to do half a chest at the same time so you could see the arm clearer plus it gave me a chance to do more drawings on chests and improve my drawings on chests.

Image 8:

Even though I decided I was not going to use the stereotype metal arms and legs
I thought that it would be a better idea to still design at-least 1 stereotypical cyborg arm
so I did and it is on this drawing aswell as a drawing for a non-stereotypical cyborg arm

Image 9 :

This is the 9th drawing that I did, From looking at it, it wouldn't be obvious what it is so
I will explain. This is the hand of the cyborg arms that I want to use, I decided to do
a bigger drawing of it.

Image 10:

Yet another cyborg hand to go with the stereotypical arms thought I do not think this would be
a stereotypical hand for them arms but I still would not use this design for a hand.

Image 11:

This is an image of the legs I chose for my cyborg
really rough drawing but it still gives some detail compared to the older drawings I did
plus if I forgot what they looked like it would be on paper for me to remember.
As-long as I do not lose the sheet of paper it should be fine.

Image 12:

This is a design for the feet I will use for my character
Once I had drawn this design for my feet I decided to stick with this design
I don't understand 100% as to why yet but I really wanted to use this design :/

Image 13:

Its upside down but is a drawing of a chest (torso) and the arms that I plan to use
on my character, Not the most elegant of designs but in my head it works.

Image 14:

This page is the final page I did on Wednesday.
I started doing more torso designs that didn't really turn out too well to be honest
even though I had some pretty good reference in the books I was using.

That's the end of my blog post for Wednesday, as I said at the start I did work from 10am to 6pm with a 30 minute break at 4pm. Basically I did 7 and a half hours of work in my own time which is something I would never do under normal circumstances since my mind is usually rather strict on things. Like where certain types of work should be done. I know it may not seem like alot when I just have the pages to show but I will not allow anyone to say I do not put forth effort and hard work.
